The first fruit of this union shall be the band's six-song debut EP, Burning Torches, whose cover art and tracklisting are further below. Krossfyre formed only last year, but set to work on writing and recording Burning Torches, completing the six-song/20-minute EP last September at Moontower Studios. Although an otherwise brand-new name, Krossfyre include among their ranks members who do or have done time in such bands as Sheidim, Spain's Graveyard, Körgull the Exterminator, Insulters, Morbid Flesh, and Suspiral. References to be made include classic Nifelheim and Vomitor, but also early Tribulation, later Desaster, Gospel of the Horns, Bestial Mockery, and Nocturnal Graves among others. But the sheer charisma and cantankerous esprit Krossfyre exude - not to mention infectious, gloriously METAL songwriting - puts the band squarely amongst those hallowed ranks. At long last, it's arrived: SHITFUCKER's second full-length, 'Sex With Dead Body." Characteristically OTT as its title and comprising re-recorded versions of those four demo songs, "Sex With Dead Body" is an altogether sleazier and more haunting iteration of SHITFUCKER's by-now-characteristic aesthetic. Mainlining G.I.S.M. and the Japanese Ghoul into earliest Bathory and Sodom - so, basically think 1984 - what spews forth is a swirling and oft-disorienting fever dream of ancient blackthrash and toxic hardcore-punk, pumped full of disease, degradation, and devil worship. Yet, SHITFUCKER more than ever prove here that they're astute songwriters, ably channeling the most ragged spirits of HARD rock 'n' roll and kicking out anthems that hail all sorts of unsavory things (hint: re-read that album title). As Assault Attack, the trio played thrash metal until disbanding in 2018. Under the direction of Vortex, the band restarted in 2022 and changed their moniker to VERDALACK and stylistically converted to speed metal. A two-song demo tape was released in 2022, showing that VERDALACK were good on their word: new / huge influences ranged from mid '80s speed metal, ancient US power metal, and classic Japanese hardcore-punk. With their expanded lineup consisting of members from Significant Point, Military Shadow, Bafomet, Disgunder, and Another Dimension, it can be said a newborn devil has arisen from incest within the modern Japanese underground metal scene. Now, VERDALACK are prepared to take over the underground with violence and force: enter Force From the Grave, their full-length debut. Comprising eight hard-charging songs across a fun & frantic half-hour, Force From the Grave approximates its namesake through a laser-focused mindset and soundfield. All stylistic nuances of idiomatic speed metal are covered and then taken to overdriven, totally OTT levels - an idiosyncratic quirk of Japanese musicians when it comes to otherwise-Western music - much in the way that the cult Tokyo Yankees did with their own debut album, 1991's classic Do the Dirty. As such, the album soon nods to Japan's legendary Burning Spirits scene in its synthesis of teeth-gnashing intensity laced with extremely impeccable chops; just witness the myriad melodic leads across Force From the Grave and how crucial (and contagious) each one is. A cult name in the diehard metal underground, since their formation in 2008, WHIPSTRIKER have prolifically pursued an intense and timeless vision of speed metal. All seen under the auspices of selfsame mainman Whipstriker, these Brazilian bastards faithfully cobble together the best and most bellicose elements of classic Venom, Motorhead, Onslaught, Sodom, and Warfare and proceed to level all posers in their path with a personality that's devilish and debaucherous. Through it all, WHIPSTRIKER's discography has been bursting at the seams with split 7"s, but they last released a full-length in 2018, Merciless Battery, for new label home HELLS HEADBANGERS. Some more splits followed the next few years, but for all intents and purposes, the band have been quiet since 2021. That's all about to change with WHIPSTRIKER's LONG-awaited fifth album, Cry of Extinction. Its title something of a railing against the dying of the light, Whipstriker and crew proceed to rumble & roll with a newfound urgency - and poignant power. Indeed, the ingredients to the ever-sturdy WHIPSTRIKER aesthetic are well and accounted for - essentially, Venom's rawness run through speed metal riffing - but there's a pronounced melodicism and deftness of approach that earmark Cry of Extinction as an exciting new development in the WHIPSTRIKER world: all's not all gnarl all the time, in other words. That melodicism plus the ever-so-slightly more-atmospheric recording make the Brazilians' highway-charging anthems here approachable to not just speed metallers and blackthrash freaks but also those inclined to the traditional metal arts; WHIPSTRIKER, after all, are a heavy METAL band. Cementing their roots in such is the cover of Destruction's "Satan's Vengeance," featuring guest vocals from Daniel Avenger, guitarist of German thrash institution Nocturnal and countless other hordes. Hells Headbangers Records announces the signing of Japan's Verdalack. The first fruit of this union shall be the band's debut album, "Force From the Grave," which should see release in early 2025. Hailing from Tokyo, Verdalack's roots go back to the preceding band Assault Attack, which included guitarists Vortex and Vandal and vocalist Villain. As Assault Attack, the trio played thrash metal until disbanding in 2018. Under the direction of Vortex, the band restarted in 2022 and changed their moniker to Verdalack and stylistically converted to speed metal. A two-song demo tape was released in 2022, showing that Verdalack were good on their word: new / huge influences ranged from mid '80s speed metal, ancient US power metal, and classic Japanese hardcore-punk. With their expanded lineup consisting of members from Significant Point, Military Shadow, Bafomet, Disgunder, and Another Dimension, it can be said a newborn devil has arisen from incest within the modern Japanese underground metal scene. "Force From the Grave," Verdalack's imminent debut album, will consist of eight songs across a half-hour. The culmination and convergence of the aforementioned influences, the quintet's first full-length will throttle maniacs of Jag Panzer to Japan's Bastard, Exciter to GISM, and Piledriver to Deathside. Nearly five years in the making, with many twists and turns along the way, the band’s fourth album, Infinite Evolution, will see international release via HELLS HEADBANGERS on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats Continuing on from 2017’s The Future State Of Wicked, the band keeps the thrash vicious, as one would expect. Yet, this time out, the boundaries are expanded. There have been changes in the ranks, as original guitarist Adam Tranquilli has now added lead vocal duties, and co-guitarist/producer CJ Scioscia has taken on more of the songwriting. Drummer Adam Kieffer remains (he came onboard for the band’s 2019 EP Chopped, Sliced & Diced), while bassist extraordinaire Mike LePond of Symphony X lent his impressive talents on the low end. Songs such as "Outbreak," "Never Will I Die," and "Of Hell" retain the BLOOD FEASTtradition of fast and furious. However, the limits are pushed out a bit further into a tech/prog direction on "Eye Of Glass" and album closer "The Chosen." With a production straddling the line between modern and old school, Infinite Evolution shows diversity, yet without sacrificing the speed or heaviness. With the lineup now solidified by the addition of Dave Kramer on bass, BLOOD FEAST is itching to get these songs aired in public. New adventures await, and new frontiers are ready to be conquered. Featuring members of labelmates SHITFUCKER and Devil Master, the power-trio made plain - and vulgar - their infernal & infectious True Vampyric Metal Punk: a raw-yet-anthemic blend of cult blackthrash, obscure hardcore punk, and even the wildest deathrock. The album sowed its seeds of sanguine depravity and SPITER took their madness on the road, cementing their cult status immediately. Now, the deviants of SPITER return with a ripping new mini-album, Enter the Gates of Fucking Hell. This six-song / 26-minute recording sees the lineup scaled back to vocalist / guitarist / songwriter Richard Spider (Daemon Bitch of SHITFUCKER) and drummer Snake (Disjawn) - they continue to be a trio for live purposes - and remarkably shows even more fire and focus than that not-inconsiderable debut album. Somehow, those six(-six-six) songs sound shorter and more epic simultaneously, with Spider showing his songwriting chops between wild & winding mania and ghoulish catchiness. The production, in kind, is colder and harsher but clearer and heavier, assaulting the listener with arguably more undead energy than said debut.
