Today we present an excerpt from “Kom eld, kom regn” as the first single from the upcoming second album of Swedish blackened metal duo Jordfäst. “Av stoft” will be released on all formats on October 28, 2022. As tends to be the case in real life, these stories are stripped entirely of both heroes and happy endings. The harsh truths of the natural world are imbued in not only the album’s concept but also its musical core – the gloomy layers interspersed with searing melodies reflect a reality as unforgiving as the northern winter. Jordfäst commented: “Kom eld, kom regn” is driven by melancholic melodies as it fluctuates between gloomy passages and majestic crescendos. The lyrics depict a man who has become fed up with the vapidness and dishonesty of mundane life. Disillusioned, under an aurora-covered sky he sets sail towards the endless sea – never to return. As the song progresses, the narrative shifts to the struggles of his son. Left behind to navigate life without paternal guidance, whose father did not even leave him a body to bury, this early betrayal has driven him into a life of constant flight and frustration.
